Osamu Shimoda (1924-2000)

Born in Manchuria. Graduated from Rikkyo University in Tokyo. Studied painting in Paris in the 1950s. Moved to NY in 1958, and became a Monumental Iron Sculptor. A number of his works have been installed in the US and major museums throughout Japan.

Toshio Sasaki (1946-2007)​
Born in Kyoto. Graduated from Aichi University of the Arts and came to NY in 1974. A multi-media sculptor with an education in architecture, he was devoted to creating large scale public art in the US and was a finalist in the WTC Site Memorial Competition in 2003.
